Foreign Object Debris (FOD) Campaign at Yangon International Airport
Yangon International Airport successfully conducted a comprehensive Foreign Object Debris (FOD) campaign aimed at maintaining safety and operational efficiency. The campaign, which took place from 07:20 to 08:15 local time on 24th December, 2024, covered a total area of 102,225 square meters, including Apron A and the Stand Area.
The event saw active participation from 170 personnel, representing a wide range of stakeholders, including international and domestic airlines, ACC, aviation police, ground handlers, fuel suppliers, catering services and YACL Staffs. The collaborative effort emphasized the importance of maintaining a safe, debris-free environment for both airport operations and flight safety.
A variety of tools and equipment were utilized throughout the campaign, including gloves, disposal bags, portable Bluetooth speakers, handheld speakers, five FOD awareness posters, and two Follow-Me vehicles to guide participants.
At the end of the campaign, a total of 9.4 kilograms of foreign object debris was collected. This included 6.9 kg from airport infrastructure, 0.5 kg from flight line items, and 2 kg from personnel. The FOD campaign not only ensured the safety of airport operations but also highlighted the dedication of all involved parties in fostering a culture of safety and operational safety at Yangon International Airport.
YACL remains committed to continuous improvement and will continue to implement proactive measures to ensure the safety and security of all passengers, airlines, and stakeholders at the airport.
